Concert Spirituel

06.12.2026 17:00 Église décanale, Bettembourg

Conductor: Nancy Back-Kelsen

On the second Sunday of Advent, the Chorale Municipale Sängerfreed Bettembourg invites you to its traditional Concert Spirituel at the parish church of Bettembourg. Together with Estro Armonico, the choir performs "Der Stern von Bethlehem" (The Star of Bethlehem) by Josef Gabriel Rheinberger.

Born in Liechtenstein, Rheinberger was one of the most respected musicians in 19th-century Munich. He wrote this Christmas cantata to texts by his wife, Fanny von Hoffnaass. From the promise of the Saviour to the shepherds in the fields and the adoration at the manger, the work follows the light of the star. Rarely performed today, it is well worth discovering during Advent.

The solo parts are sung by Gaby Wolter-Boever (soprano) and Jean-Paul Majerus (bass), conducted by Nancy Back-Kelsen.

A concert that tells the Christmas story in warm, romantic sound.
