15.06.2024 20:00 Decanal Church Diekirch

Conductor: Andy Loor

Programme:
A Prayer For Peace_John Williams
Agnus Dei / Adagio for strings_Samuel Barber
Requiem_Gabriel Fauré

On 15 & 16 June, we commemorate the 100th anniversary of the death of Gabriel Fauré, who died on 4 November 1924. A remarkable French composer whose musical legacy remains immortal. The programme includes his Requiem, which stands out from his many masterpieces. It's a moving composition that offers comfort and peace in the midst of pain and sadness. Similarly, John Williams' “A Prayer For Peace” reminds us that music has the power to comfort and heal us, even in our darkest hour.

As we celebrate the anniversary of Fauré's death, the concert on 15 June will also be an opportunity to remember the many innocent victims of war, whose suffering and loss are immeasurable. May this concert remind us that even in times of conflict and tragedy, hope for peace and reconciliation never wanes. May music connect us and inspire us to advocate for a world where the innocent victims of war are never forgotten, and where their memories live on in peace and harmony.

We were also saddened to learn of the death of Roby Schiertz on Sunday 12 May. He was the founder and honorary president of our choir, so we will be dedicating our concert on 16 June to his memory.

Admission: €25 / €10 under 25 / free under 12 / No booking required
