Handel's ‘Messiah’ was first performed on 13 April 1742 at a major benefit concert in Dublin, where it was enthusiastically received by the audience. The composer impressed the audience with a ground-breaking work that is still one of the most famous and popular works of music literature today. The work owes its greatness in particular to the effective and emotional choral writing, but would be inconceivable without the marvellous solo arias and recitatives.
With the help of the ‘Estro Armonico’ orchestra and soloists Laureen Stoulig, Jeff Mack, Kenny Ferreira and Franz Schilling, the AMBITUS vocal ensemble will attempt to meet the great demands of this exceptional score on 29 March 2025.
